Announcement: Click on the discussion tab above to post your thoughts and wikispace link.Wikispaces- Online Course
Below I have broken down the course into 5 weeks. Each bulleted item links to a vodcast that is on the website http://www.theteacherzone.com. You need to have flash installed on your computer to view the tutorials. A majority of browsers have flash already installed but problems arise so e-mail me if you have any. My hope is that you can use the information on the vodcasts (a video tutorial) to help you set up a wiki for your class. Just think of all that you can do with a wiki! You can use it to post homework, communicate with students, have students communicate with each other in a safe environment, have a place where they can view maps, videos, and charts, hear podcasts, and work collaboratively on assignments in groups. The future is now! Your students will use the wiki without even blinking an eye. To them it’s like another Facebook or MySpace page, but to us it’s much safer than social network pages and has greater educational value. Like anything else technology oriented, it’s only a great tool if you use it. The more you incorporate your wiki in your class the more your students will use it. So come on and have some fun and start your wiki today! Use the discussion board at my wikispace to ask questions and converse with your fellow teachers. Week 1
Become a member of my wiki page. All you have to do is respond to my e-mail inviting you to my page.
Create pages for your classes (if you don’t teach a class let me know).
Once you are a member, post a one sentence message (or more if you want) to the Montville U page message board that gives me the link to your startup wiki page.
Now the real work begins. It’s time to start finalizing your site for your classes. Post your recent assignments on the appropriate class page. You should start thinking about if you are going to invite students to work collaboratively on the wiki or if you are just going to use it for your own class site. Week 5 Finish Wikispace!!! This week you should finish your site. Post the link on the message board to your finished site and comment on at least one other site made by a fellow teacher in the course.
